Moths are now flying around at night here in TN. Bats should soon follow.

I've been seeing bats and moths flying here for the last week. It always seems to start in the creek bottoms and river valleys about the time the air temps hit the upper 50s. The most activity I see through the whole year is when the prescribed burning and wildland fires start.

And to think that the bat surveillance for WNS isn't supposed to start until March. The bats will be out by then!

I saw bats flying around this evening in the plateau when I left my dig that I was working on. It was beautiful weather and perfect for
camping. Perfect for bugs and bats too.
