night mode flat out rocks with a side flash dood. I have a ton of shots from ellisons and mystery falls on rope that turned out great. I dont take as many photos these days as i used to.

My Olympus certainly will (see below) but it's the older 6MP C5050, not the 6000.



My other well-used caving camera is a point-and-shoot Canon A540, like yours. It has some optical IQ shortcomings (tiny lens), but with a little work it does OK for taking shots on the fly. Like this.



I like the concept of a "tough" camera like the 6000 for caving. I wouldn't mind trying one, but this discussion doesn't really encourage me to want to buy one.

Maybe, There it looks like you just used the onboard flash solely. Most cameras are going to take terrible pictures with onboard flash only (but not always).

You should get the Scurion 1500 you mentioned in the other thread to illuminate your shots ;-)

That is my plan. Or at least a Scurion 700. or something of the sorts. however I am a poor college student that wants to propose next semester.. so.. I gotta stick with what I have for now.

I have the Olympus Tough u1050. It's a pretty tough camera. It takes great macro photos, but is only fair for shots that are in the middle range. It's also pretty good for far shots. Nikons and Cannons take better photos in my experience, but you CAN get good shots with this camera. That written, get the 8000 if you can afford it.
