Hello! New and from Northern California

Postby ourdiscourse » Jan 15, 2011 3:41 pm

Hello everybody. My name is Brad I am from Redding, Ca, way up North. Looking for others interested in showing me and possibly my girlfriend the ropes. I've visited Pluto Cave and done that a few times. Nothing too spectacular.

Looking forward to getting way more into this.
Thanks!

If you go to caves.org there is a way to find the closest caving grotto (club) to you. There are great cavers in both Cali and Oregon

Thanks, I've emailed two different Grotto's and haven't gotten a response yet. Looking forward to hearing back from them.

Brad, I don't know who you e-mailed but here's SAG's honcho: twodingbats@frontiernet.net and as for the Redding group, I believe, this will get you into their honcho: shobson@aol.com and if you want to send me a copy, that would be helpful. :big grin:

Ernie, thanks for that info. I wound up getting a response from a very helpful lady named Melanie. She has informed me of the next two meetings and day trips the SAG has planned. Unfortunately I won't be able to make the one in Yreka next week due to an art show I'm entering, but will definitely be at the February meeting in McCloud! I got an email address for guy who lives here in Redding, so I'll be emailing him to see if we can meet up and chat.

This is probably a stupid question, but are you a part of the Shasta Area Grotto?

Like they say, "No such thing as a stupid question," so Yes! Also, of Diablo and Mother Lode Grotto. We used to have one in Medford, OR, but disbanded about five years ago or so. :cave softly:

Awesome, well nice to meet you... As well as anyone can meet another on the internet, I guess! Haha. Are you planning to make the trip to Pluto Cave the upcoming weekend? I am working on shifting a few things around and maybe, just maybe can make it up there on Saturday to meet everyone and scout out the cave.

Alright, well I won't be able to make the meeting itself. Hopefully I can make the Saturday cave trip. I'll mark the Feb. clean up trip on my calendar now so I won't plan anything for that time.

Well, welcome to Hans, also! At the SAG meeting last week, there was Rudy and his girlfriend who are from Redding, as well as the Treasurer of the grotto, Steve Hobston, so you guys should get together and drive places together to save on some fuel, what with the prices beginning to go sky high :waving: ; and, no telling what's going to happen what with this latest fiasco in Egypt.

If you need any other info, contact me with a private email, as I've mentioned in the past. :cave softly:
