Speleothem formation mechanisms

Postby Adam Byrd » Mar 5, 2006 9:09 pm

Ok, so I spent yesterday in Glory Hole cave. It was easily the most beautiful cave that I have seen firsthand. I got to wondering about the different conditions and mechanisms by which all of our favorite pretties are made. As an engineer I don't know much about geology, but I really want to learn more. Can anyone reccomend any good resources - online or otherwise?

Also, check out the pics I took here:

They're not the best (disposable camera), but whatever.

Wikipedia is starting to become a pretty good source for almost everything: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speleothem
