Walls Q: Way to exclude length of shots but still close loop

Postby rchrds » Oct 19, 2010 11:13 pm

Another Walls question that could probably be answered with RTFM.

If I have a surface survey from entrance to entrance that is used to close a loop, but I do not wish to include the length in the total surveyed length of the cave, how do I notate this in Walls so as not to have the surface survey length included in the total length, but still be able to close the loop?

Thanks!

You'll need to use the #SEGMENT directive.

When it comes time to compute stats for length, etc., you'll need to go into the segments tab on the review window and turn that segment off.

Aha! I see that also works if the loop in question is a separate survey- I can just detach that branch of the tree, and it removes loop length from the total.

Thanks!

Jason,

If you want to length exclude individual shots in Walls you can also just add a #S L at the end of the line. See the following example:
B26 B27 20.1 81/261 5/-5 <2,5,2,1> #S L
