Goodbye Chip Clark NSS 9037

Postby Cheryl Jones » Jun 14, 2010 11:14 am

I'm so sad to report that Chip Clark NSS 9037 died in his sleep Saturday night, June 12. We have no other information now.

Chip was an extremely accomplished and respected cave and Smithsonian photographer, and a good friend to many cavers. He will be missed.

Thanks Chip, and goodbye.

Goodbye Chip Clark NSS 9037

Postby Cheryl Jones » Jun 17, 2010 6:06 pm

From Chip's wife:

We will hold a private family grave side service on Monday, June 21, at Congressional Cemetery, Washington, D.C. This is a meaningful location for Chip as a place where he took photographs for the Smithsonian as part of physical anthropology projects. It is also a cemetery, in keeping with Chip's wishes, that participates in "green burials".

The ceremony will be followed by a reception, open to all friends and family, 3-5pm at the Fairlington Villages Community Center, 3001 South Abington St., Arlington VA 22206. This location is near Chip's home. http://www.fairlingtonvillages.com/about-maps.html

In lieu of flowers, we will ask for friends to make contributions on his behalf to WETA or WAMU (our local PBS television and radio stations) and the National Speleological Society. One of Chip's favorite programs was NOVA and he listened to NPR radio every morning. He was an avid caver and cave photographer and long standing member of the NSS.
