Interesting Bat Photo

Took this picture the other day. A first for me (and the others with me at the time.

Even in the midst of WNS decimation life does go on.
These are eastern Pips.

Larry,

while the photo is indeed suggestive, its not uncommon for bats to roost against each other and bats actually mate in the fall. The female then holds the sperm over the winter and fertilizes her eggs internally in the spring. Then again maybe they are practicing :big grin:
I'm not scared of the dark, it's the things IN the dark that make me nervous. :)

I too have witnessed the same thing! Pip in Feb. wakeing up and getting his grove on! This was while working with NC FWS, doing a bat count. There is video documentation to back it up!
