Does anyone have a link to this article?

No link but I could scan the articles and send them to as reference material. I don't want to break any laws here though.

Wait a minute, here we go.

The latest Scouting magazine was in my mailbox today, Volume 98 number 1, the 21010 January-February issue has an an article titled Blind-as-a-Bat Caving by Josh Piven. It is on page 52. It gives a few ideas on what to do and not do if your light dies on you. It assumes you are with a group. Basically it advises to stop, settle down, stay warm, initiate a distress call and wait for your fellow cavers to find you. And lastly learn from your mistakes.

BTW, have you ever seen the video that followed a bunch of scouts through a cave, Texas I think, in the cable series that I think was called Scouting's Adventure? It was about 10 or 11 years ago.

Not just the caving episode but others as well just like in Scouting and Boys Life there were obvious breaches of protocol.

"A Scouting Approach to Wild Caves"

Troop 381, Prairie Village, KS

One of my favorite caving videos. Hmm....need to get my VCR hooked back up.
Caves are rare and precious things. Cavers...even more so. Treat each accordingly.

If you come across this again, please post a link. I'd be interested in seeing it.
