Fascinating. Greg Passmore started caving in San Antonio back in the early 70s. He's a true Texas Caver.

I think I've seen this, but my work has youtube blocked.
When I return to my home, and internet freedom, then I will have a look:)

That looks like it will be very interesting I cannot wait to see it next summer. I love watching shows and movies about caving (even the really dumb ones).

Looks very cool.
Will this be a movie, TV series or what?
At the end is says "the series". I'm hoping this will be on the History or Discovery channels.

Where is this? You'd think we'd hear about this in process if it were in the USA.

This just seems waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy over-dramatic to me. In a two-minute video, we have:

1. Someone walking through a large cave chamber with their headlamp off, the room lit by a flare, and then dramatically hurling the flare to the ground.
2. An ancient castle surrounded by windswept time-lapse fog. Why the heck is this even in there?
3. An incredibly un-realistic scene depicting a climber falling off of a wall, spooling out ~20 feet of rope and being dramatically caught by another caver's outstretched hand. I saw this in the Sylvester Stallone movie "Cliffhanger," I think. It needs a helicopter.
4. A person appearing to rappel in Golindrinas with a figure eight. Obviously this person didn't actually do that, as mentioned in the comments below the video, but why even film it?
5. Dozens of shots where cavers turn dramatically toward the camera and make googly faces. Bob, is that a bobbin in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Some of the cinematography is obviously excellent, but WHAT THE HECK... do we need to turn caving into a no-holds-barred soap opera to make it seem interesting?

So are they going to actually go caving, or just hang around at the top of big holes in the ground? It was pretty, but I was disappointed. It looked like a bunch of glamor shots strung together. I suppose the trailer wasn't made for cavers though.

Finally, a REAL Caving Movie ?? So IMAX's Journey to Amazing Caves wasn't ? What about National Geographic's Mysteries of the Underground?
Agreed that the trailer shots were glamorous and probably designed that way to attract NON-cavers. We should know by now that unless a movie is produced and directed by cavers it's not going to be exactly OUR idea of a great caving movie... unless it's one of those seen at a Grotto Presentation.
I'll watch it but I won't expect much and that way I MIGHT be pleasantly surprised.

The producer is Greg Passmore, a Texas caver from way back, now living in CA. So he'll be showing caves and cavers from a cavers point of view! :kewl: He's also doing one on vampire bats http://www.vampirebats3d.com/

The ones shown at the NSS Salons during convention! http://www.caves.org/committee/salons/Video.shtml (Available from the NSS AV Library. http://www.caves.org/service/avlibrary/)

But a Hollywood-type cave movie? Hollywood is all about fantasy -- remember?

It seems the creator of the video is replying to the criticism.

passmorelab It's static rope... the figure 8 was only for a small drop to a ledge about 20 feet down. Good comment however and I will make sure it is not in the final film -- to prevent giving anyone the wrong idea. We use racks for the actual drop of course. Thanks.
