Packing List for SERA 2009 Cave Carnival

Just a couple of days left until the 2009 SERA Summer Cave Carnival, don't forget to pack these items:

- Sunscreen and bug spray. It's springtime so we get to enjoy the sun and keep the mosquitoes away until the bats get to them.

- Musical instrument. For the Friday night open mike event or just bring your voice. We will have a karoke machine for those brave enough to go before a tough audience.

- Clean cave gear. Make sure you are going to wear new clothes or ones that are WNS decontaminated.

- Money for gear and the food vendor. All 16 of the vendors will be happy to see you, and Big John's will be serving food from Thursday night through Saturday night. Remember, the more you eat, the more beer you might when during the Win Your Weight in Beer contest Saturday night.

- Vertical gear. Even if you aren't going caving, you can participate the rope climbing contest and/or the blind climber contest.

- Boots, helmet and pack. No problem with WNS when you participate in the cavers run. A two loop run around the campground where runners must wear cave boots, helmet and a pack with at least 10 pounds of stuff. There may be a few surprises along the way.

- Outfit for MardiCrawl Parade. The parade is Saturday night. Beads and masks will be available for purchase. Bring a crazy costume to wear during the parade Groups can either walk or decorate a float.

- Running shoes. In addition to the cavers run, we will be having a 5k road race around the campground.

- GPS receiver. For those who are geocachers or want to practice/learn to use a GPS, we have more than 20 stations around the campground to search for.

- Bathing suit and towel. The hot tub and sauna are going to be in full operation.

Hiking shoes. There are some great hikes around the area. Take advantage of the great weather to see some outstanding spring foliage and waterfalls.

See you all on the Mountain at SERA!!
