One day left until Spring VAR 2009!

We will have cave movies running all Friday night as you arrive. Kid-suitable videos early, progressing to South Park goes to Cave of the Winds after midnight. We will also have music Friday night if you want to stay warm by dancing.

We have a fine meal lined up for Saturday's banquet, by the popular caterers who (over)fed us at VAR 2006, with a menu including:

* Sloppy Jims (like sloppy Joes)
* Pork BBQ
* Vegetarian Lasagna
* Macaroni and Cheese
* Green Beans
* Cole Slaw
* Assorted desserts
* Tea, Lemonade, and Water

NO ONE will go away hungry!

The after dinner program will highlight several above-ground cave projects by members from all over the Region. The usual caver beverages, a big fire, and music by John Fox will finish out the evening.

We have gone out of our way to provide more conservation and alternative activities than ever before at a VAR. If you choose not to go caving, there will be no shortage of things for you to do. However, we recognize that the USFWS moratorium, despite recent scare tactics, is completely VOLUNTARY, and not all cavers will choose to follow its recommendations. There will be a few caving trips for those who choose to go caving. Please decontaminate your gear before coming to VAR! We will also have two decon stations setup at VAR for those coming and going.

Front Royal Grotto will be serving breakfast before Sunday's meeting. CHANGE: FRG has asked us to collect money for breakfast at registration and are not planning on taking cash at the door Sunday morning. Pay up when you register if you want breakfast.

We expect a lively meeting Sunday morning. Craig has packed his Chairman's axe for the meeting, just in case.

The weather looks like it could not be better this weekend. If we haven't convinced you to come yet, it is your loss!
