Cavers In Oklahoma??

Postby Ralph E. Powers » Mar 24, 2009 3:11 pm

Ralph,

I finished school recently and moved to Oklahoma to work at ConocoPhillips' research center. I'm trying to find some cavers here near where I live in Bartlesville (about 45 miles north of Tulsa). I found the website for the Tulsa Regional Oklahoma Grotto (TROG), but a couple contact emails I tried were returned as undeliverable. Do you have a way of finding out if there are any cavers in Bartlesville, OK? Anyway, I hope things are going well for you. When I got here I didn't think there would be much in the way of caves (close by, at least) so I joined the Technical Rescue Team (confined space and high angle rescue) so that I could at least pretend like I was caving. Well, thanks for your help.

Nate

Any suggestions anyone?
Thanks.

Ralph, you are no longer in Tennessee? Too bad. Keep posting and I hope you find some cavers, and CAVES to explore
while you are in Oklahoma.

Read the OP again amigo... it's a copy/paste from a friend to me... I just lifted it directly because it contained all the info I was going to ask anyway...
I'm not going anywhere for a while yet... So still in TAG still loving it.

Hey Ralph!

I would have your friend contact my old friend Keith (Andy) Harris in Edmond OK. He is probably the most active, knowledgeable cave in OK (not to mention his forays into TAG and Mexico with the likes of Bill Steele and Jim Smith). Andy's a great guy/caver and could certainly point your buddy in the right direction...

Can you PM me his info please so I can pass it along?

Many thanks in advance.

Ralph, I currently live in Collinsville OK, about 15 mins from Bartlesville. He will probably want to get involved with the Arkansas groups as well as the TROGs here in Tulsa. Send me some contact info or send him mine and I'll get him in the loop...
