I heard from a highly reliable source that you are correct with your guess . . . however, my source was not a member of Nashville Grotto. . . but he is closely associated with the Cave-In site.

Hopefully Nashville grotto will be forthcoming with more information soon. I need to go ahead and get us registered as Vendor's while we still have money to do so. By spring I may be "scrounging for food".

Sorry for being away from the forum for a couple of days,

The site will be what we are calling the Camp on Little River. It is also know as TAG on the Mountain or the TAG Site. Our grotto plans to put a different spin on a familar location.

Our webmaster should have the registration form up on the site this weekend. Right now, you will need to print it off and send it in, but we are hoping to have electronic submission and payment working soon.

The vendor registration form will be up next week.

Thanks.

Thanks John for the update. As I stated earlier, the word was "out" that SERA was going to be at this site. . . all that was lacking was the official announcement.

As a vendor I'm glad to know that at least the site you are using has an adequate area with plenty of power for the vendors. As a vendor I've been to many events with poor power or poor drainage and neither of those conditions make vendors happy. . . . I know as and SCCi board member you've been to events with less than ideal vendor sites.

I'll keep checking the site so I can get KVART registered ASAP.

I understand your desire to keep the SERA event having it's own character but for caver recognition of where the event will be held I'd think calling it by the most recognized name might be beneficial. (This is my personal/vendor opinion . . . not my moderator opinion.)

I guess this will be a first in the history of T.A.G.

Both SERA and the Cave-In at the same site. I am looking forward to it and it being the first caving event I will be living 40 minutes from.

Actually, I've read somewhere that the 1st Cave-In was a "late in the season SERA" and it was so well received it became an annual event because people liked having an event in the fall.

The 1974 SERA Summer Cave Carnival was held at Sequoyah Caverns, the old Cave-In site. So this will not be the first time that the two events have been held at the same location.
BTW the SERA web site has a list of all of the previous SERA Summer Cave Carnivals locations and dates, alone with the hosting Grotto.

2009 SERA Summer Cave Carnival
Walker County, Georgia
May 28-31

The Nashville Grotto is pleased to be hosting the 2009 SERA Summer Cave
Carnival on May 28-31 (weekend after Memorial Day) in Walker County,
Georgia. Preregistration is now open.

The site is one that is familiar to many folks as TAG on the Mountain,
aka The TAG Site. For SERA, we are calling it the "Camp on Little
River", and the Grotto is making plans for some exciting events.

In addition to caving vendors, a Saturday night band, hot tub and sauna,
door prizes and socializing, we will be having led cave trips, a foot
race and a caver's race, a Friday night jam session, rope climbing
contest, midway games and some other special events that our showman
Jody Bailey is cooking up.

The event web site is already up and running with a Registration form
and a Vendor form available.

http://www.sera2009.org/

Check back often as we will continue to update the site. If you have any
suggestions or general questions, please visit the Event forum,
http://sera2009.org/forum/1

A portion of the proceeds to the Southeastern Cave Conservancy, to further
its mission of cave acquisition, http:// www.scci.org.

I've heard rumor of a parade/costume contest at the event. I checked the website today and couldn't find any info on this. I've heard of this from several sources (none of them from the hosting grotto) and no one had any details of the alleged parade/contest.

Anybody here have any details?
