Bridge Day 2008

Postby Carl Amundson » Oct 13, 2008 12:46 pm

I know it's not strictly a "caving event", but a lot of cavers attend.

I will be making the drop for the first time. :banana_yay:
Yup, that's right I'm a bridge day virgin...
I will be with the Monongahela Grotto in Position #9.

Who else is going and what rappel spot go you have?

Berta and I will be there as part of the Safety Team.
We also have the honor of being the first married couple to "raise the colors" and state the days event.
Berta will be climbing with the American flag and I will be climbing with (the much smaller) WV flag.

I'll be there with junkman #9 spot Mon Grotto. This is my second year and I am just as excited as I was last year!

Wow! You got your photos up on flicker quick. You must have drove straight home and logged on. Great shots a usual.
It was good to see you guys there.
After seeing the shot titled My worn-out boots, maybe next year at the "ascending system check-out" I should take a look at the quality of your boots too.

BTW tell Mary…sorry that I missed speaking to her.

There were a great number of Cave-Chat folks that I saw, but never had a chance to say "hi" to....very busy time for us. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did. :banana_yay:

I had a great time at Bridge Day this year.
I was able to get in 5 rappels, thanks to the Governor extending our day for an extra half hour.

It was my first, but will not be my last.
and next year I want to ascend also...

Here is a link to some of the pictures I took:

Sorry I missed talking to you Tim.
I saw you at the safety meeting, but did not see you on Saturday.
(except for watching you and Berta raising the flags in the morning).

This was my third Bridge Day Rappel with Brian Masney's Monongahela Grotto team; I flew in from Oregon and managed to squeeze in 2 rappels, 2 tandem ascents, and 1.5 funnel cakes this year.

My photos are posted online at: http://speleo.us/gallery/Bridge_Day_2008

(Pardon the late thread reply, I'm sorting through 6 months of photographs!)
