Who's Going to the 2008 NSS Convention?

Postby Scott Parvin » Jul 24, 2008 8:49 am

Well, it's only a couple of weeks away, and I'm getting excited! I'm driving down Friday morning (probably about a 6-8 hour drive). I had intended on camping until someone I won't mention (CaverScott) talked me into splitting a room for the week.

I'm looking forward to the Geology Field Trip Sunday, and I think we're going to try to go on a tubing float trip one day. All the rest of the week, we'll be enjoying the great sessions, parties, and events of the Convention.

So....who else is going? What are your plans for the week? Camping or motel? Driving or flying?

I'll see you there!

Berta and I are driving down Saturday or Sunday. Camping in the Big A** Van, a.k.a. Sportsmobile (we have have hook-up for the AC :banana_yay: ).
Berta "may" race in the climbing contest Monday and we have the NCRC Board meeting Monday afternoon. Who knows what we will get into after that...

See everyone at the Howdy Party! :beer30: :toast:

I live 40 miles south of the convention site, I'm not planning on attending, but I have Mon, Tues, and Wed off that week if anyone wants to get together, hit the springs, go to dinner, drink a beer, etc let me know.

I'm poor  and also I have to work the last half of the week, can't take off since I am saving my leave time for some other trips. From what I hear this is going to be a good convention. I like that so many out of state cavers will be here to experience the dry caves of Florida.

I'm getting up there early to help set up on Saturday - if they let me out of my office friday evening! Regardless of how work goes, I'll be there in time to run the geology field trip - which a bunch of you have signed up to check out. It should be fun. Doing the dry run with my helpers tomorrow.

Where is the nearest good beach? Natural as first choice, not crowded as second.
I know, Lake City isn't exactly Destin, but I'd like to spend a day at the beach. (Not the swamps of the armpit of Florida, either.
Thanks.
