looking for used survey equipment at low cost or to barrow for a few months can anyone help?

What equipment are you looking for, specifically? A survey book, paper, and pencil should run around $25 depending on your taste in pencils. Those of us who use fiberglass survey tapes on reels typically spend around $15, and those who prefer tapes without reels spend less.

As for a set of instruments, it will be very difficult to find an inexpensive set, as the price for Suuntos has been creeping up steadily since the exchange rate started its current unfavorable trend. You can try using eBay, but be warned that instruments that have been mistreated (banged around, left in a hot car repeatedly) may not provide an accurate reading.

it would seem even used ones don't sell for a significant discount, but it's worth watching.
