Thanks Ian. The clouds had lifted this morning and the view was booooootiful.
I'll have to schedule another time for that pint. We've already left heading the other way - to Alaska. We drove the Icefields Parkway up from Canmore in that changeable weather a couple of days ago. The Columbia Icefield was all but invisible through the blowing snow, but I can't really complain as we got to see both a black bear and a grizzly foraging right by the highway (and completely ignoring us tourists watching from the safety of our vehicles).
By the way I got to meet a few of your fellow ASS members in Canmore last weekend and early this week. We were playing cave rescue games together with Phil from BC.
Blows Miford Sd outta the water, and our beer's better too.
In New Zealand, I'd put the karst below Mt. Arthur ahead of Milford...
