Good luck getting a bomber. I heard they were out of business.

I tried and failed to replace my current bombers (which are the best in my opinion)

I have the GGG kneepads (long version) and dislike the buckle system. I do like the strip of reinforcement down the center that the GGG's have....if Bomber would do something like that then it would take cae of the knee seam busting out.

I've used those blue kneepads from homedepot...the ones wit hteh gel kneepad. They are nice but still not hte best. THough they are cheap. Climbing on my knees feels uncertain in them...your knee is always wanting to roll off the pad.

And those pads chafe you behind the knee like most kneepads do :(

My favorite kneepads are the foam inserts that I put in my Meander coveralls. No chafing...no moving around. Nice....

I've had a little experience with the GGG pads. I chose the extra-long version to help them stay in place, reasoning that the extra surface area and extra strap would keep them anchored. Alas, it hasn't worked that well so far: they seem to stay put while I'm walking and then slide to my ankle when I'm crawling, even with the straps very tight. I guess this could be my fault if I've misunderstood the designer's intent (no instructions) but I surely don't see how.

The common wisdom is to use external pads and save your pants with pad pockets from abrasion, but an integral pad is probably my next approach.

While they may seem oddball,I love using these. The ballistic nylon covering and articulations grip mud very well.Almost all caves out here are crawlways for the most part and these are still going strong after a couple of years.

The company is six six one and the pads are from their BMX line.

Are they comfortable to wear? Do they fit over coveralls?

I have a couple of pairs of green and black neoprene hardware store knee pads with 2 simple velcro attachments. Also have some Bommer Gear knee/shin pads. I prefer the cheep pads worn under my patched knee cave pants. They provide enough protection, stay in position, never chafe and never catch on obstacles. I can look at the pads and see if there is any manufacturer info if you like.

Thanks, for the info. It's almost like I'm wearing your caving suit in that picture. My shin bone sticks out, too.

I like the cheap-os you can find at Wal-Mart. They might be volleyball kneepads, I'm not sure. What I like is that the thick foam will really let you jam your knee into the wall or cracks if you're chimneying. They don't last a long time, but then again they only cost about $6. Unfortunately they bunch up behind the knee.

I've been using a cheap set for knees and elbows for about 8 years now. Not sure what sport they were originally designed for but they're basically a half inch of closed cell foam with an elastic tube for your leg or arm. The stay in place and provide pretty good padding. When I got my Lost Creek coveralls, they had a large pocket over the knees for padding. I cut a half inch sleeping pad to fit and added that to the to the kneepads I was already using. The only problem I've had was with the strap across the back of the knee on the coveralls. It rubbed a spot raw once.
When facts are few and far between, hypothesis defies all logic, as to how an individual came to the conclusion, that the point that they are trying to make, is indeed true and not just the fabrications of a deluded mind.
