Each event tends to be a bit different as different groups plan the events and include different thing.

Basically you can expect
* lots of cavers
* camping
* caving vendors (vendors selling gear for caving)
* usually some sort of entertainment on Saturday night
* door prizes given out before the Saturday entertainment
* some events have a meal you can buy for a fee
* many have a vendor selling food like hot dogs and burgers during the event
* often there are contests (like rope climbing, obstacle courses, squeeze boxes)
* sometimes a bon fire
* often group caving trips are offered complete with a "leader" for the trip.

I'm sure I've forgotten something. The main attraction for me is spending time with fellow cavers and having an opportunity to add to my "'wish list" of caving gear and occassionally having the money to actually buy some new caving gear.

Mike - They forgot to tell you something. These caver "events" are HIGHLY addictive. :yikes: Seriously, you may want to give it a second thought. One event, like SERA, could change your life forever. Save yourself! :shhh:

He's right my first SERA was the start of a new yearly tradition. I have not had that much fun in my life in one weekend. We also forgot to mention that that weekend we will have more caving than anyone can do in one weekend. Anything from vert. to horizontal, from easy to extremly hard. We are in the process of contacting vendors now and will have a list of them up on our web-site soon, this is both caving and food vendors. posting.php?mode=reply&f=12&t=6150#

I hope SERA/VAR will have an emergency phone number available. I know it is hard to believe but everyone does not
own a cell phone these days. My mother passed away while I was at TAG a couple of years ago and I did not
find out until I got home. Thank goodness I did not miss the funeral. Could you image how far under the
doghouse I would have been if I missed my Mom's funeral because of a caving event? :sad:
