The new look of the DB is out of this world, Wayne. You out did yourself. Keep up the good work.

Overall, I like it. But I don't like the avatars being over on the right side...it's backwards from most boards. It's easy to look on the left side, see who's poting, then look to the right to read the post.

That was a modification I added (added, not wrote). There is a pulldown at the bottom of any thread you read -- like this one -- that allows you to read posts from a certain period.

The new phpBB3 software was just released on Dec. 13 so it's going to be a little while before modifications are available for it.

I miss the counter on the new messages that told you how many new posts there were since your last visit.

If you click "View New Posts" it will tell you how many there are on the right side of the list.

The way posts were handled before, it counted new posts since your last log-in.. If you logged in and logged out, it would assume you read them and not count them anymore. That was a pain if you logged in then had a leave before reading the posts. If you logged back in, they wouldn't show up as new because it only counted new posts since your log in.

Under the new system, if you log in and read only 3 of 9 posts, it will keep track and show the remaining six as new posts even if you log out and log back in. In other words, it tracks the posts you read and if you don't read a new post... it keeps it as new until you do, or mark your posts as read.

Is there a key to the little icons on the left side? I don't quite understand why some scroll text and some don't. (Ok, I'm a net moron about some "intuitive" things, I'll admit.)

I'm still trying to figure that out myself.

I know red means it's unread and black means read.

I think the scrolling icons are the "hot topics" or most active.

The ones with the small round circle on the bottom right of the main circle (circle in a circle) mean that forum has a subforum(s).

I'd figured all that out except the scrolling icons. Sounds like a reasonable explanation.

Hey Wayne,

Is there any possibility of getting a shrugging smiley ie one that says "i don't know" if you know what I mean....

It's one of the smileys I seem to miss and one I think I'd use pretty often  (along with this --> one it seems)

I like the new look :kewl: and especially that the smileys are now inserted at your cursor instead of at the end of your post.
