Sure, bring yer gear and take some pics. I promised the landowner a trip report and I'm sure she'll appreciate some nice pics as well.

Anyone know what cave trips are going to be offered at VAR? Some of us who are going were discussing it and would like to know ahead of time so we could do a bit of research.

The only ones that I know of right now is the Carpenter-Swago trip which is a very enjoyable trip that involves a couple interesting traverses and some fun vertical. I'm sure there will be a led trip to Sharps Cave but other than that I'm not sure. I checked the website and it doesn't have any trips listed there.

I got two replies from the organizers, so this list may or may not be accurate:

Mystic Cave (horizontal with some stream passage)
Alpena Cave (through trip horizontal, wet and difficult)
Bowden Cave (horizontal, beginner trip)
Sinks of Gandy (horizontal, beginner to intermediate - mostly stream passage)
Middle of Nowhere Cave (survey trip and 10 1/2 inch high entrance)
Big Run Cave (vertical intermediate)
Elkhorn Mountain (vertical intermediate to advanced)
Cass Cave (vertical advanced)
Carpenter Swego (Vertical through trip advanced)
Sites Cave (vertical intermediate )

also possibly

Sharps Cave (horizintal beginner to intermediate)
My Cave (horizontal beginner to intermediate)

The furnace in the pop-up better work!

Cold temps

Postby pacaver » Oct 10, 2007 8:44 pm

Cold temps make for better sleeping, so you’re better prepared for the next day of caving. Give me cold over hot and humid any day. I love TAG, but I can’t deal with the heat of Tag In The Summer, hereinafter referred to as T.I.T.S. I try to plan TAG trips for spring or fall, where you have the best temperatures for the agonizing hike up a freakin’ mountain just so you can rappel back down inside what you just hiked up. While T.I.T.S. can be a lot of fun, the sweat and heavy breathing tends to wear me out, so enjoy your cold temps this MAR/VAR and pity the poor cavers who are willing to suffer the agony of T.I.T.S.

See you all soon on the nylon highway!
