This is the case every year that I have been involved in helping to put on the event. The decision whether to light the fire is always decided during the Cave-In. This year is different only in the fact that we are in the midst of a drought. The property has been getting some rain, but there is no definite answer to the question you posed. If it isn't too dry, and we get approval from the authorities, the fire will go off as planned, but there is always the possibility (every year) we may not be able to light it. We keep our fingers crossed and hope for rain leading up to, but not during, the event. A little rain dancing wouldn't hurt for this next week, but don't get overzealous or it will rain while we are there trying to enjoy it.
