There is also a Days Inn in Trenton that is 5 miles closer to the Cave-In site than LaFayette, at least by Map Quest mileage.....

Yes Eric, but don't forget about the 24 hour beer sales in Lafayette,(except on Sundays, of course).

I noticed some of you were mentioning caves to visit during the TAG Cave In - Here are a few other ideas that are within an hour or so drive:

Sittons (horizontal) & Case Cave (vertical) - You must make reservations, they are only open certain days of the week.
Limrock - horizontal
Sheldon - vertical
Anderson Springs (pigeon mtn)- horizontal
Tumbling Rock - horizontal
Signal Light - vertical
Neversink - vertical
Cagle's - vertical
South Pittsburgh - vertical

Pigeon mountain is only about 12 miles from the Tag Cave In site. Leaving the site if you go RIGHT onto HWY 157 back towards Menlo - go about 9 1/2 miles, take a left onto Dougherty Gap Road and the first road immediately on the RIGHT is ROCKY LANE - this brings you down the mountain from the backside.

Limrock and Tumbling rock sound fun. I've never been to either. Anyone want to make a trip there?

if you go to tumbling rock, make sure to have about $7 or $8 in cash to pay the owner for parking, i think it was around that much but i haven't been since 2005

Tumbling Rock and Limrock are both really close to Scottsboro. Limrock is owned by the SCCI. Tumbling Rock is still $7 per person entrance fee (CASH only). I think the owners are now requiring that someone in your group have been there before in order to let your group in. If you have to choose one of them to go to then Tumbling Rock is the best choice. I have pictures of all these caves listed on my web page.

You need to have release forms for T-Rock signed ahead of time or at the cave for anyone under 18 years of age.

I have a new printer and will print off a couple of dozen. I will drop them off at the trip sign-up desk when I get to the Cave-In.

I have them also on PDF and will email them to anyone that wants a copy before hand.

South Pittsburg, Neversink, Rusteys/Cemetary, Cagles will be a waiting line in order to do them during the Cave-In.

I have gone the Neversink during the Cave-In before and there would be about 20 cars there and up to 6 ropes strung in the pit. I also remember waiting about a hour before I got to rig my rope.

Stephens Gap which is down the road from Limrock will be closed the weekend following the Cave-In for Hunting season.

That would be a good one to do even if there is a crowd there. Just make sure to check with Milton Polsky. He is in the NSS Manual

Pretty Well is another good one to do. It will close down the same time. It is 208' deep and above Limrock. You can drive and park at the bottom of the trail going up to the pit. Just don't go past the pit on the road and don't block the road. Mr. McAllister does not want anyone going past the pit up into McAllister Sinks.

War Eagle closes during the same time. Call Milton Polsky for access.

Gross/Skeleton is a real fun wet suit cave to do. Mr. Weeks who owns the lower entrance does not mind caver's parking on his land. Check with him to see where he wants you to park.

Howard's Waterfall is leased by the SCCI and will be open during the Cave-In.

A few other caves are:
Sinking Cove Cave- Check with Buddy Lane for access.
Sherwood Mnt Pot- Sherwood, Tn- 84' Pit
Raulstons Pit- Kimball, Tn
Diggings Pit- 80, 30, 25- One 300' rope will do the pit
Kennamer Cave
Mandys Pit
Little Coon Neverhole
Bluff River Cave
