PMI Alto

Postby Jimmy Nelson » Aug 25, 2007 11:38 am

I am considering purchasing a PMI Alto. I wanted to hear if anyone has one and, to see what your personal opinions/views on it are. I did a search on the forum, to see if there were opinions already posted about the Alto. I didn't find much on the Alto at all. What I did find, wasn't anything in the way of a review. You're more than welcome to shoot me a "PM", if you don't want to reply to this message.

Never used one myself. But, as with any helmet, it must feel good on your head. What feels good on my head may feel different on yours. Point is, to be sure, try it on first. TAG and OTR are great places to try on many different styles of helmets. My recommendation for helmet shopping, in order of importance: 1) fit. 2) price. 3) see number 1. Good luck!

Jimmy

I used my PMI Alto for many years (that's it in my avatar.) I liked it for the most part; it fit my head. Recently, though, the molding on the helmet edge started coming off. Once started, it would often come off when I was backing out of a tight passage and I'd have it around my neck. I bought a new helmet at convention.

Between Berta and I we have 3. I have an old original Alto that did not have the black molding on the edge. The “newer” model fits/feels better than the older model. I had used a Petzl Ecrin Rock for years (and still do when I use my carbide generator). We both have Sten Lights on the new Altos.

In full disclosure... Berta is a PMI Vertical Specialist (sponsored athlete). The above opinions are mine and are in no way meant to be an advertisement.
