they do't do vertical training, they do have a vertical contest though

Your best bet would be to meet up with some other cavers in your area prior to going and practise. down here we rig ropes in huge trees in each others backyards,

maybe someone on here or in your grotto can help you get vertical

glad you are going to make it to the fall cave-in, it's great!

Thanks, Ill ask around

I think it's about time to start planning a cave chat get-together on Friday night... what do y'all think?

If we can swing a PA system, there is still hope for a Friday night open mic jam at the stage. That seemed to work pretty good as a meeting place last year.

I'm also starting to ponder what caves I want to do this year..... hmmm

Kevin, don't worry yourself about a PA system. Glenn Mills (my husband) is coordinating the Friday night "open mike" again this year and he will be sure all the needed equipment is there. He is talking regularly with the Cave-In Chairperson about the "entertainment" for Friday night.

Once details are fianlized he will put out announcements about "sign-up" and logistics for those wishing to perform. No reasonable offer to perform will be refused. Preference is for one or two person acts as having a group set up requires too much time for just 15-20 minutes on stage. I don't want to put words in his mouth but acoustic instruments are perfered to electronic instruments for this particular venue. Have patience and all the info will be forthcoming.

Regarding a "cavechat" get together. . . Whatever the group wants to do is fine. Someone just needs to pick a meeting spot and go for it. Weather of course in early October is unpredictable so you never know . . . year before last Friday night had rain and pea soup fog and last year it was very cold.

Ok how bout Friday night, by the stage, 8pm (or whatever time the cavers entertaining cavers thing starts). The past few years we have done a wine tasting thing, do we want to do that or something else or just met up and BYOB?

I'll be having beer (we are cavers, dangit).
Probably going to have homebrew if I can get my act together...
The stage at 8!

Do you take brewing requests? Brew a girly beer, not too bitter or dark. :-)

Only if you promise to drink all 5 gallons Wendy :woohoo:
No but seriously, if you can drink a pale ale, you can handle at least one!! I will not make a stout though, I promise... Maybe a wheat would be good, hmmm... those are on the light side...
Homebrewers don't typically brew bud light type lagers. That's just a waste of propane and rice, lol...

How about a medium dark ale, like Newcastle?

Just kidding - I have my own vice and will bring a bottle or two of it to share!

8:00pm at the stage - Friday night - can't wait!
