I like that white tie and white trousers, tho I really think that a cumberbund and white tux would enhance the fashion statement immeasurably - and - and remember you read it hear first! - I think what we really need is a caving helmet made in the shape and style of a top hat!

And it's about time lady cavers started dressing better too!

Princeton Tec are pretty good with returns in my experience so if you return it I wouldn't expect problems. I'm guessing it is around where the screws are? at the bottom middle bump or one of the the two top bumps? This is the common place for cracks (screws a bit too long).

yes the crack is along the one of the bumps for the top screws

ran into a bit of a problem with my apex this week, if i turned my light off in the cave and then later turned it on, it doesn't fire up right away, had to push the button 3 or 4 times and then it fired up. Is my light just resting and wasn't ready to be on again yet? Was it the cold, the damp? who knows, but at least it fires back up, I'll just be patient with it

I've had an apex for the last couple months and absolutely love it! If you are using the high power (W) bulb for extended periods it tends to zap the battery, but I've used it for two 5hr trips now w/o having to change the batteries out. the mud doesn't seem to bother the heat sinks too much.

I'm very happy with it!

Yeah they seem to be great until you get them under water.

Mine has been fine when dunked underwater occasionally... after doing the mod of course.

ok, so today i finally went and voided my warranty, took out the stock led and replaced it with a SSC P4 led, now my apex puts out around 100-130 lumens on high

You just now voided your warranty? That happened minutes after I got mine by cutting the wires so I could thread them through my helmet!

well, ive had the led for around a month though, just now swapped it out after a few trips to some wet caves to make sure it wasnt gonna die.

mine's modded and it still doesn't help. the apex is a wonderful, cost-effective light for dry caves, and even reasonably wet ones with stream passage and the like. but every time i go to the cave featured in my avatar, my Apex is a casualty - as is everyone else's. and i'm already on my second unit after a warranty replacement.
