4 AA cell waterproof battery box

Postby brrrdog » Jul 16, 2007 2:30 pm

I've got an old petzl 4 "C" cell headlamp (I'm not buying an APEX until you all fill up a full 40 pages worth of threads  ). I would like to convert it to a 4 AA cell but I can't find a decent battery box. It's pretty easy to find a cheap battery box, but they're usually not enclosed. The petzl duo has a nice battery box. Does someone know if I can get this as a spare part?

As far as I know you can only get the battery holder ( the part that slides down inside that the batteries sit in. ) not the whole box.

I greatly appreciate the offer VA and I've dropped you a PM.

Although, if this works my brother is going to be jealous (he has the same 4 C cell pack) so if anybody knows where I can get another please let me know.

Reckon something like this might just do the the trick:

http://www.scurion.ch/ms/index.php?lamp

Scroll 2/3 the page and have a look.

I *might* just have to sacrifice a body organ to get one (& the lamps not too shabby either)

Oh, great. Two things that make me nuts...a new lamp and nice-looking anodized metal.

What's this little beauty cost and how soon can I get one? :caver:

I looked it up and 510 swiss franks is 425.00.
While alot of money, that's really not a bad price for a custom light like that. I don't like the way they've just mounted one of the LEDs on the board with no reflector or lense. It's wasting lumens lighting up the interior of the housing.
If I had 400 bucks budgeted for a new light, I would get the stenlight and upgrade the LEDs to the Seol P4 and get the aluminum reflectors from Jon Burlison, but then I'm just a little biased.. :caver:

Yeah at about 70 bucks just for the battery case, I think I'll screw a small pelican case to the back of my head and put the batteries in there ;).

You could heat shrink some NiMH AAs together into a pack. Looks to me like that's pretty much all the stenlight has done on their battery... The only problem is that you'd have to charge your battery with a pack charger.

You are partly right...sten repackages a battery put out by "powerizer".
They remove the label, add another layer of heat shrink tube and add their connector.

You can find the exact same battery at batteryspace.com down to the color and guage of the wires...
