Here's a Cavechat sticker for your convention badge

OK, for those of you who want to proudly display your affiliation with the NSS forum so you can hook up with other members, I've made a printable image that you can download and print and take with you to the convention. Then just use tape or glue to glue it to any blank space on your NSS Convention ID.

The image appears large on screen (which is 72 dpi) but if you print it at 300 dpi, it will be just over an inch high a look a lot better. You can scale it to whatever size you want once you get it on your computer.

Here's a small image at 72 dpi, if you can't get the larger resolution sized down:

Remember to do it before you leave for the convention and take it with you!

Ok I printed out my caveman

At the TAG fall cave-in I brought along my 2 way walkie talkie's and a group of us decided on a channel to use for the weekend to get in touch with each other, do we wanna do that at convention. Realms is funny on the radio btw, it would be worth it to do it if he brings his along too.

Convention 2-way caving channel

Postby Wayne Harrison » Jul 5, 2007 6:14 pm

That is a GREAT idea, Wendy.

How about Channel 3.4 ??

( thought it should be something odd so we don't get non-caving people on it.

Mine only has whole number channels, like channels 1 thru 22, and have a range of like 2 miles, i guess not true walkie talkies, just those 2-way things.

OK. Let's try Channel 3 then for everyone who has personal two-way radios.

I expect my name tag will say something like:

John "HEWHOCAVES" Tudek

Since about as many people know me in the NSS as John Tudek as 'hewhocaves'. lol.

Three weeks... I just drove past the convention town on the way home from Field Camp. My god, every bit of Indiana looks like every other bit of indiana.

In case you haven't heard, there will be road construction issues in Louisville.

Part of I-64 in Louisville will be closed during convention.

About a 4 miles stretch, from I-65 to I-264. Here's the comments about it from the NSS2007 website.

Driving Directions

The site of the 2007 NSS Convention is approximately 4.0 miles south of Marengo, Indiana, and located on State Road 66. The Convention site is accessed from Interstate I-64, Exit 92. (St. Louis, MO. is approximately 4 hours to the west and Louisville, KY. is approximately 40 minutes to the east.)

From the North

Take Interstate I-65 south to Exit 6, which is I-265. Take I-265 southwest to I-64 west.
(I-265 ends at I-64.) Follow I-64 west to Exit 92 (Leavenworth, Marengo, State Road 66). At the top of the exit ramp, turn right (north). Head north on State Road 66 approximately 4.0 miles to the School which is on the righthand side (east side) of SR66 for Registration.

From the South

(NOTE: Go Figure...Kentucky has decided to close I-64, west of I-65 all the way to I-264!) Now take I-65 north to Exit 131, I-264 West. Take I-264 west which ends at I-64. Take the I-64 Exit West. Follow I-64 west to Exit 92 (Leavenworth, Marengo, State Road 66). At the top of the exit ramp, turn right (north). Head north on State Road 66 approximately 4.0 miles to the School which is on the righthand side (east side) of SR66 for Registration.

From the East

(NOTE: Go Figure...Kentucky has decided to close I-64, west of I-65 all the way to I-264!) If you are coming via I-71, take the I-264 exit, south and west (also known as the Waterson Expressway.) If you are coming via I-64, take the I-264 exit, south and west (also known as the Waterson Expressway.) Once on I-264 west, continue to I-64. (I-264 west ends at I-64.) Take the I-64 Exit West. Take Interstate I-64 west to Exit 92 (Leavenworth, Marengo, State Road 66). At the top of the exit ramp, turn right (north). Head north on State Road 66 approximately 4.0 miles to the School which is on the righthand side (east side) of SR66 for Registration.

From the West

Take Interstate I-64 east to Exit 92 (Leavenworth, Marengo, State Road 66). At the top of the exit ramp, turn right (north). Head north on State Road 66 approximately 4.0 miles to the School which is on the righthand side (east side) of SR66 for Registration.

The pre-convention issue of the CRawford Harrison Underground Gazette (CHUG) came out today:

http://www.nss2007.com/chug%20preconvention.pdf

It has a lot of useful last-minute information and tips.

Also, the 154-page convention program is also available online (2.7 Mb):

WOW! I clicked on the URL to get the CHUG report and it completely knocked my computer off and gave me a full blue background sheet of a descriptions and error messages. I had to press and hold my power switch to get any action whatsoever out of my computer, which of course turned off. When it booted back up I got a message "Windows has encountered a serious error" and asked to send a description to MS. I clicked that and got another error message saying why it couldn't send that. Everything seems to work now, but I'm not clicking on that again. Using Windows XP Home edition.

Worked fine for me and I have Windows XP, too. Loaded in about 3 seconds. Your computer must not like pdf files.

Reminder: Cavechatters will be on Channel 3 with GMRS or FRS walkie-talkies at the convention.

My computer locked up on that too but I'm used to it. . . my computer does hate pdf files. Of course I blame part of my problem on th e fact that I'm running ancient Windows 98 and am on slow dial-up.

I had received the file in an e-mail from the convention folks since I am pre-registered. It opened fine, but then again I do have high speed now and just updated my pdf reader. Before I would have had the same problem you fine folks are having.
