I'll be setting out from Kansas tomorrow (Wednesday) with a "light" complement of vertical caving and camping gear. Family is going to MN to visit the grandparents. Daddy will be loose in TAG!

I'm looking at that Tom Culverwell print book

Hey Doc - Don't forget your GPS! I envision at least of day of caching on the Horizon!

Scott
I'm definitely bringing mine! I've done a little preliminary research, there just aren't many "rest stop" caches on this trip as my Crawlathon one.
I'll also give you the skinny on how to do "Cavers Plunge Extreme" since I'm one of only two to find it (thus far) and you're interested in it.

home safely from first SERA

Postby caverdoc » Jun 3, 2007 7:59 pm

Made it back to Kansas after a fast 10.5 hour drive and a 0530 "alpine start" out of camp. The kiddies loved their cave packs and other little goodies I got at Vendors Row.

Dave, Tony and Scott, thanks for some excellent vertical caving.

Scott/Julie I forgot to give you the skinny on Plunge Extreme!

Cheryl, was great to run into you again. I'll see you at Convention!

Dangerjudy: missed finding you!

Vendors, thanks for feeding my gear addiction. I promise to bring you more greenbacks at Convention.

To my erstwhile and crazy :waving: Sewanee Mountain Grotto camp-mates: thanks for the food and entertainment. The Cascade Plunge video was awesome, even though I caught only the first half. :kewl: See ya next year!

Hard to believe it took me 30 years to make it to my first SERA. Needless to say, it was a very memorable experience. Back to clinic on Monday! :woohoo:

Dr J

PS Learning point for the weekend: when using a double roller chest box, always make sure the standing rope is in its proper roller BEFORE leaving the pit floor, not 20 feet in the air...makes climbing much easier.

Dr J - I had hoped to run into you but didn't connect. Funny, I'm a member of Sewanee Mtn Grotto but didn't camp with the grotto group in the quiet area, though I was down that way several times during the event. I saw Scott and Julie, Cheryl and Danger Judy. However, since the reported attendance was 745, I guess it is easy to miss someone in the crowd. Maybe at convention we can meet if you make it there.

Missed you at SERA!

Martha
I was down by the characters BollWeevil and Chickenhawk (?), about 20m from the rappel tower in the green Coleman tent and silver Buick sedan. Fun group! I posted a note at registration for folks to find me.
You can probably ambush me at Vendor's Row at Convention!
My right shoulder is killing me tonight after pushing a QAS up those two pits...I'm used to the Frog, not a ropewalker. I'm definitely using the ropewalker more as I age. May have to revert to Frog for Indiana.
I'll look for you at Convention!
