Interesting. I don't have that problem. Are you using FF? I am using FF2.0.1 or whatever the new one is.

Wayne -

Would it be possible to add a list of who's online in the chatroom to the main cavechat page?

I'm having the same problem.
I'm using FF 1.5.0.10
Is there a newer vs. of FF that I need to load, or is it related to my ISP?

Dane -- I am using FF 2.0.2 or whatever the new one is. Make sure that your internet settings allow your browser to load Java. Also, make sure your machine has Java installed.

Well, I have had an interesting evening!
In FF, I went to HELP > CHECK FOR UPDATES and it claimed there were none.
I then went directly to the Mozilla site and found the new vs. of FF you referenced and installed it.
Still no luck, so I tried to install the Java update. Takes forever, and then fails, blaming a file within the Java folder.
So I go into Java folder under Programs, try to open it, and after a few seconds, a pop-up box says that the "Disc in Drive C is not formatted - would I like to format it now"
I don't think so!
Bottom line - I still can't get into the Chat Room, but it would appear that I have bigger problems to worry about right now!
Nonetheless, thanks for the help BigA. Hopefully I will see you in the Chat Room soon!

The chatroom apparently was upgraded recently to require the new Java. I have FF 1.5.0.9, and it worked fine. Two days ago, it didn't work at all. Required Java upgrade. (I had Java, but the old version didn't work. Still have old FF.

I can't help you with your "format C:" problem--sounds like a virus with a warning for stupid people (not anyone in present company.)

My thoughts too, Phil, but I scan daily and my software updates daily, and yet it isn't showing a problem.
I'll play with it again this evening and see what I can see!
I haven't had any problems (that I am aware of) other than not being able to update JAVA.
Oh well, if nothing else I'm sure it will prove to be a learning experience!

I'm not aware of a way to do that, although someone else might be... and it would be a neat feature. It's a completely different system, maintained by a third party.

Ah yes. Shame. I'll look around and see if there is a way. I don't know anything about coding (minus the little I did to my site) but it doesn't hurt to look.

** ETA **
I looked at the place where you got that chat software. I assume it's the free edition? If you upgrade to the Business, it does the whole list thing. There are other perks too, but idk how much of that we would need.
HERE

I did find this page with free Java Chat stuff, in case you were interested: HERE

Yeah, we have the free edition...

My main priority is getting more cavers to post on this forum. The free chat room is just a little extra for those who visit.

The forum still has a long way to go in terms of gaining new members and getting more of a percentage of NSS members posting.

list users in chat

Postby joestewart » Mar 6, 2007 7:45 pm

This will list each user in the room:

http://client4.addonchat.com/scwho.pl?i ... rs+in+chat.

Something similar to this may work:
