Live Cavechat chat room being tested

Postby Wayne Harrison » Feb 24, 2007 12:26 pm

I've added a live Cavechat chat room where you can chat with your caver friends in real time, without the delay experienced in the Shoutbox. It's like the shoutbox, only real time.

I'd like you to test this chatroom out and see what you think. It's free, so if it is not used, it won't cost anything to remove it.

Let me know if you have any questions..

Wayne, idk if it's supposed to be like this, but on the chat page, the chatbox is on the right side, and the cavechat logo is on the left, aligned with the bottom of the chatbox.

Very neat, thanks Wayne! Much much easier than shoutbox and everyone doesn't have to read cave babble.

Also, seeing how it work here. I'm thinking of putting on the Wyoming Forum.

I don't know if this is a concern, but a guest just logged in. I dont know if it's going to be for cavechat.org members only?

Not a concern, as far as I am concerned.

Won't this detract from the Shoutbox? Not that I use it that much, but this seems one more place for dialogue to occur that many people won't see and it may be lost.

I just don't get why this is superior to what we have, but OTOH, I've never been to a chat room either.

Phil,

Its just so we can chit chat in real time, a few of us like to carry on conversations with each other, and the shout box really wasn't the best place to do that. The chatroom gives us a venue that we can talk on without disrupting the shoult box.

Ahhhh...so, cheaper then a telephone call, too, huh?

Thanks for the info. I have noticed a group of you being pretty chatty each day, too.

Depends on the day and time of day. I have free nights and weekends.
