Non-marking soles

Postby Lava » Feb 25, 2007 3:17 pm

Hi All,

I am searching for a pair of boots with truly non-marking soles. The problem is I hate wearing anything resembling workboot type boots in caves, and prefer more of an outdoor shoe (trail runner, backpacking boot, etc). So the yellow non-marking workboot sole is out of the question. I have tried some of the vibram soled outdoor shoes that purport to be non-marking, but when rubbed on white porcelain or linoleum they always leave marks. Does anyone know of a specific outdoor shoe that is truly non-marking?

Those ugly yellow soled boots are probably the best for "non-marking" boots... are you planning to walk all-over pristine flowstone or something? Or are you in a fashion contest? (j/k)
The mud and dirt accumulated by walking on the cave floor is going to leave marks irregardless, so by and large it can't be avoided 100% ... but it CAN be minimized by walking lightly and staying to one partiular trail with everyone else in front or behind in single file.

If you have a pair of boots you like for caving. You can alway have them resoled with a Blonde Sole. Just go to local Cobbler and have them order a Sole for you. Like these:
