Carpenters-Swago is still one of my favorite vertical caves. I especially like the Swago Creek entrance, just a series of nice little semi-wet drops depending on how you rig it. I've bounced the Carpenter's entrance a few times but never bottomed it all the way.
Lots of great caving in that area.

Hope to see you down there Dr J.
As it turns out I will be leading the VAR trip into Swago Pit on Saturday.
I was informed of this during our last Grotto meeting...

A quick word of advise to y'all coming to VAR...

Fill your gas tank when you get off of 81 or 64 and start heading to Durbin. I stopped in Green Bank for gas a month ago and gas was 30 cents higher than in Covington :!:

Since I will be in the area on the Friday of VAR, I volunteered Kevin and I to lead a Carpenter-Swago trip. See the official details here: LINK

Here's a copy of the details:
Carpenter-Swago
Meet at the cave Friday at noon.
Return time: 9 p.m.
Number of people: 8
Description: Vertical Intermediate. Depending on who and how many people show up, we could do the Carpenter entrance (about 90' and 30') or the Swago entrance (40' entrance pit followed by 25' pit, knee deep water, 25' drop, 20' possibly wet-ish drop). Or we could split into two groups and do a cross-over trip. Your own set of vertical gear is required. Must be able to do a changeover.
Trip leader: Scott McCrea and Kevin Quick
Contact: scott@swaygogear.com

Please let me know if you want to join us. Feel free to pass this around.
