Postby NZcaver » Jul 20, 2006 3:00 am

So, anyone interested in making this happen?

What? There are only 4 DB regulars (including me) who will be at Convention?

Talk about an underground society within an underground Society!

OK - since we're about 10 days out and the response has been so under-whelming, I'm thinking we just meet up at the Howdy party on Monday evening. We need some kind of secret recognition method, though.

Ideas? Comments? Anyone??

Maybe a Batman secret de-coder ring.

Is anyone going to do any of the sessions? ie. Vert., salons, etc.

We're driving, leaving this Sunday. We are due in to B'ham Friday the 4th. :there yet:

Howdy party works for me.

Great idea! :kewl:

I have a bat ring that will suffice - a cherished item I was given by a fellow caver a few years back.

Look out for this on my Convention ID lanyard -

I will also be attending a number of sessions and events during the week. Can't wait!

See you there!

Cool ring and very special. It's funny, but I seem to cherish gifts (or even things bought)from cavers more highly than from anyone else. Wow, a new revelation.
Anyway, really looking forward to convention.
Be safe...

I'll be at Convention. I'm giving a presentation on Petzl's NEST cave rescue litter, probably at the Medical Section but hopefully at Rescue Session as well. I'll be fresh off the BCCR week-long cave rescue camp on Vancouver Island, so I'll be extra crispy! Will probably be camped somewhere near the Canadians (I'm borrowing a tent from Phil Whitfield, saves baggage weight since I'm flying to Vancouver tomorrow).
I can't believe that I got off two weeks from clinic to go!
This will be only my second convention in 30 years of caving.
My wife actually cut me a bit of "disposable income" for buying new toys as well. And I plan to nab a couple geocaches in the area, too!

NZC, perhaps you can grab the mic at the Howdy Party to ask for all cavechatters to head towards a distant corner. :toast: Or put up a sign at the Wedesday party to give a time and meeting place that evening.

Just ideas, since we don't know faces or sometimes even real names.

Cheryl

Dr K --- Awesome. Will be GREAT to see you again after so many years.

Hi Doc :waving:

I'm looking forward to your presentation on the NEST. I'll be at the CRS meeting, but if it's not on that agenda I'll try to get to the Med Section meeting too.

Hope you have fun at Gold River. I wanted to attend that one too, but it just didn't work out this time. If you need to borrow any other gear to keep your baggage weight down, PM me about it. I'm fairly local to Convention, and will have my vehicle and some gear with me.

But what if I'm too shy? :tonguecheek:
Between announcements and signs, I'm sure we can figure out something. :toast: :woohoo: :beer30: :bananaguitar:

Crap, I was just there saying hello to Phil and others; wish I'd known you were there too. Were you amongst those crammed into thecrewcab waiting to go for lunch?

I'm already here in Washington! Yeah! Went sea kayaking with Ann Bosted yesterday. Nothing untoward even happened. I didn't capsize the kayak, no alligators attacked.... just a pleasant day.

Well at least two of us found each other...by means of a little yellow bat ring.

I also have spotted and chatted with Amemba, although anonymously.

It was great meeting you at last Teresa! :woohoo:

Well, it's Wednesday night and we still haven't really had a cavechat gathering.

But it's been good to meet a few new faces and catch up with some old ones. Plus being a volunteer keeps me busy and tired.

OK, I'm off to check out the campground party.
