Although I would be more than happy to help out CAG and the resemblance might be considered a bit spooky  , I must assume that caricature would be of the well renowned CAG MC, none other than Michael Gilbert. Perhaps the CAGgers can tell us who inspired it?

This is more my style (I was the doorprize MC at Cave Capers a few years ago and the gals were the "Prize is Right Ladies"):

I felt confident that CAG would not mind us displaying the SERA Poster.

other activities during the Cave Carnival

Postby mgmills » May 12, 2006 2:07 pm

For the last few years at the Cave Carnival the SERA Karst Task Force (SKTF) has helped the hosting grotto sponsor a clean-up during the event. This year the clean-up will be at Manitou Cave (AL). The activity will be a "trash pick-up" on Saturday, June 3. This Cave is a former commercial cave and is very special to the CAG folks.

More details (departure times, specific tasks to be accomplished, etc.) will be published closer to the date of the clean-up. I am the SKTF "project leader" on this clean-up so feel free to contact me if you need more information.

Manitou Cave is VERY near and dear to CAgers hearts! Manitou was CAG's birth cave it was the place where we decided to form a grotto and was the place where we opened the letter that made us a grotto. Please help us and this wonderful history filled cave. What better way to spend Saturday at SERA while waiting for the Carnival to begin?

This is my first SERA. I'm gonna be a day tripper mainly to check the vendors. Is Saturday the best day for that?

If I send my form in now, do I still have to spend a lot of time in line to register at the event or is there a "fast track" for folks who prepaid (but didn't register by April 1)?

Vendors will start setting up as early as Wensday. so anytime after that would be good as far as shopping Vendors row goes. I guess you could call it a "fast track" if you register early. You won't have to fill out the info forms and such when you get there. However you'll still have to sign the waver form when you get there like evryone else. Saturday is when all the main attractions will happen if your only going up for one day I'd make it Saturday.

For those who want to know. There are 2 campsites for SERA. The upper field camping near the rim and the campground camping in the pocket. Registration wil be down in the pocket. CAG will be up there starting tomorrow. Hope to see you there!

This is my first SERA, and I'm bringing other newbs along and we're curious about the food situation. We're going to be there Friday, Sat, and Sunday, and space is limited on what we can bring down. Are there usually food vendors there? I'm thinking we'll probably get there then drive out to Scottsboro to load up on some snacks, but didn't know if anyone would be selling food on site or not.

Some years they have a Munchie Stand featuring your typical Burgers and Dogs. The web site doesn't mention a munchie stand though. Maybe Magz will update us if she has not left yet.
