Lost Creek Siphon

Postby gindling » Feb 11, 2018 6:33 pm

Four of us forded the West Boulder River and snowshoed the five miles to Lost Creek Siphon in Montana this Saturday to begin rigging it for a bottoming in March, winter access only cave. Water was low and temps hovered around the 20's. Beautiful day!

Lost Creek drains a healthy chunk of the West Boulder Plateau and in the non-winter months would be an on rope scuba adventure. The water would still be in the mid thirties and just a lot more of it. There is still a healthy amount of water flowing in right now and it will be full wetsuit past where we turned around. Here is the same pit in May of last year.

Mid-30's :yikes: That is just a "tad" :big grin: cooler than the mid-50's I used to survey while I lived in Indiana.
