Greetings form Pennsylvania

Postby EmmEeeElliiessessa » Sep 26, 2016 10:49 am

Oh hi! My name is Melissa. :waving:
I am a cave-obsessed geology nut currently living in Pennsylvania. I always find writing about myself to be slightly awkward but here we go: Oh goodness... well, I like caves. A lot. I am a freelance photographer, full-time mom, and geoscience student. I also own a small business where I craft and sell what I refer to as Speleotherapeutics, which are essentially aromatherapy products formulated using water that is sourced from a karst spring. Karst mineral water is, of course, saturated with numerous minerals that are beneficial to skin and aid greatly in dermal rejuvenation. Feel free to check out my website if you're interested!: http://www.MelissaHornPhotography.com. My fiance and I recently settled down in Pennsylvania after spending many years traveling the continent working at different caves and assisting in speleological research. In our spare time we cave, hike, explore, travel... did I mention cave? We like caves. We have dedicated much of our lives to promoting education about cave conservation and the importance of these geological wonders which never cease to amaze me. I am always interested in participating in research projects and am particularly interested in hypogene speleogenesis and geomicrobiology in hypogenic caves. Yeah... I like caves.... and I am eager to be a part of this online community and hope to meet some new like-minded individuals. Don't be a stranger! :big grin:

So were you at the Fall MAR (Mid-Atlantic Region field meet) this weekend at Woodward Cave and Campground in Pennsylvania?

Unfortunately I was unable to attend MAR this year. Are you from around that area, CG?

Active grotto groups in most areas of the state - Pittsburgh, Loyalhanna, Huntington, Nittany, York, Allentown, Philly, and others. For your area, probably Nittany and Huntington Cave Hunters?

Nittany is the most dominant. The bald eagle grotto is fairly active around the area as well.
