:kewl: We'll definitely be bringing edge pro to guard the rope and rig points. Signal light is actually the first vertical cave we have ever bounced, gonna skip it this year, though.
Current plan is to see an easy horizontal cave Saturday night (haven't picked a particular one, yet), then see Neversink, South Pittsburg, Valhalla, Rocky River, Gourdneck, and whatever else we can fit in until we have to leave Wednesday afternoon.

Right now we're operating under the assumption that the people who run caver's paradise will be able to direct us to these caves, as the only one we are positive as to how to get to is South Pittsburg. Ya'll think they'll be able to help us out?

Yes, Maureen will be able to point you in the right direction. We have our grotto meeting at one of our grotto members houses in nearby Orme Saturday evening but after that there will be other grotto members up on the mountain that could point you towards some local marion county caves ;)

There are bolts at Neversink- in fact, the SCCI requests that people use the bolts and NOT the trees. The bolts are fairly easy to locate. When you come down the last few feet of the trail, bear left around the edge of the pit. The bolts are in the little undercut/overhanging rock shelter.

Y'all have fun, and be safe!

Man, you guys are awesome, haha. We can't wait to drop these pits and you can bet we'll be posting our photos afterwards. Thank you all for your advice and hospitality and maybe we'll see some of you this week!

Is rumbling falls open? Do we need any specific permission to bounce it? I'd love to see stupendous.

From the Closed (Restricted)Cave list maintained by the DCG:

Rumbling Falls Cave (TN) ‐ The state of Tennessee is allowing access to caves on state land on a permit basis. Contact Falls Creek Falls State
Park for details. DO NOT enter Rumbling Falls or any other caves within the park boundaries without the proper permit and authorizaƟon

Hey, we're in town today and we're thinking about stopping into the grotto meeting to say hi. Any chance someone could let us know where and when the Sewanee meeting is?

We're headed to rumbling falls today but realized we don't know exactly where to park. If someone could pm directions that would be great. We have a permit and directions in the cave. Just missing cave location Haha.

If you haven't gotten a response already or for future reference questions, I would suggest that you post questions like this on Facebook like for the National Speleological Society Facebook group where people respond faster and you get your question out there to a much larger audience of people. I don't think that people check Cave Chat as often as Facebook although I check Cave Chat each day. And I think a lot more people look at the posts on Facebook than on Cave Chat.

Did you make it today? How'd it go? You can park at a quarry just down the road or on several "wide spots", in case you haven't been yet.

Valhalla looks excellent. We might have to do that. Is Neversink just a pit or is there a substantial amount of cave attached to it?

Neversink is pretty much just a pit unless you count where the stream goes under the sinkhole and you can crawl and follow the stream for about 10 feet before the ceiling gets too low to keep on going.

TAG Trip question

Thanks Frederick for sharing your neat photos. Was surprised to see a double rope, though. How many were on your trip? Looks like a youngster or two, 'eh? That's great!
