Need to haul some gear into your project?

Postby chh » Jun 23, 2014 6:39 pm

So here's the thing. This year I'd like to take a trip. I've built up some vacation time, and I've got some money to spend on a plane ticket. My passport expires in 2015 and it needs some more stamps in it. I'd like to contribute to a survey or biology project somewhere out of the USA. I don't mind a language barrier, though I do speak enough Spanish to get by. I'd like to stick to caves above freezing temps because that's what most of my gear is good for and wouldn't require extra expense. I'm a competent caver, some might even consider me "strong". I realize mostly I'll probably be schlepping gear somewhere and I'm ok with that. Looking for a 2 week time period, more or less. I'd like to go somewhere where the exchange rate is good so that I will be able to go back. Mostly I'm just looking to do something I love with folks from another country since I'm feeling somewhat "internationally deprived" as of late. So, where should I go?
Your words of caution are no match for my disaster style!

I would suggest Mexico, Asia or Europe.

MAtienzo, Cantabria, Northern Spain. The main Matienzo Expeditions occur around Easter and from the middle of July to the end of August. In the latter period, most activity happens during the last week of July and the first two weeks in August.
