Yeah, the counter is obviously "fake". Pity. If the rest of it is genuine, I hope the so-called girlfriend doesn't find out. Then it would be a menage solo!

I think it is. Since someone sent me the link a week ago, I've checked it out at several random times. It's consistently getting about 200 hits every 10 seconds. That's waaaay too consistent, in my opinion...

I have seen a link like this to a similar page same sort of text and everything but a different girl and there was way more in the section about how things were progressing. I think he was advertising / looking for the third as well

Anyway so I think there are several guys doing the same thing and probably even copied the webpage source Soon there will be webpages warning girlfriends not to make these type of bets with thier boys

I have view the source code of the page, it's very simple and clear. Nothing hidden in it.

Also i beleive the counter is not fake because the counter comes from a free service offering the counter. He might be able to change the initial value but it's impossible to change it every single second.

Finally he made the next move:

After gaining a huge daily traffic, he updated the text, the picture of the girl removed and of course a casino-banner added below the counter, and a link to an Adult Friend Finder :)

Obviously the girl in the picture is not his girlfriend. I wonder if she has any idea about it.

After all these, now it seems that the guy is trying ...

(a) to sell the traffic of his URL (i.e. by redirecting it to another site) and
(b) to make a mailing list (to use or to sell)

I guess the guy might have create more pages like this one (using variants of the same idea).
