PMI/SMC Grip with Ropewalker

Anyone have any experience using a PMI/SMC Grip to ride/float above a chest box? How well does that work?

Cheryl,

I'm planning on setting up my ropewalker with an old gibbs as a floating safety, but I have no practical experience with the set-up. If the tether lengths are set-up correctly it should be a hands free backup. I know from using it in other aspects that Gibbs, and I suppose the PMI Grip, is a bit fiddly to get in place.

I hope you get more helpful responses!

I fiddled with my Ropewalker 20 years ago and haven't changed it much since. I have a Gibbs riding on my Simmons Roller and can forget it's there untill I need it. I'm not familiar with the Grip but that's what works for me.

Brian, does your Gibbs lock on its own when you want to rest (sit down) on it? Or do you have to set it by hand?

It will self lock with a sudden downward movement but to just rest it must be set by hand.
