Survey protractor....?????

Postby evanrobinson1985 » Nov 15, 2012 10:25 pm

Hello all,

I am a beginner at surveying and only know how to take the measurements for the LRUD, azimuth, clino, and disto (so far). I was wondering if anyone can tell me what type of protractor is a clear card with the wheel on it.? Or even if that is the best choice. I already have everything else I need to survey except for the protractor. I am trying to get one before the end of Decmeber so when I go back home to Florida I can get one of my caving buddies to teach me the rest of the survey process. Thanks in advance. :cave softly:

The Cave Compass, IMO, is the best. http://cavecompass.com/

You can buy a clear 360 degree protractor at most hobby or office supply stores for a few bucks. It doesn't need be more than a single piece of plastic, no arm or additional wheel.

Cave compass for three years now. It's by far the easiest to use and the best as a result.
