Sinkhole cave opens up near Nashville TN

Postby BrianFrank » Aug 14, 2012 12:33 pm

EDIT AFTER THE POST >>>Sorry about this comment below, I'm still learning who the better known TAG cavers are.<<<

I hope these cavers knew what they were talking about "The experienced cavers suggested the hole be filled...."

He says he is trying to figure out how to get his big screen TV down there, and his cooler.

Anyone near this area who can check it out?

Brian,

The first article says Gerald Moni and Emily Davis and others checked it out. I'd say they are qualified. :)

Can you think of any reason that it shouldn't be filled?
As Phil said, It sounds like it has been quite well checked out already.

If Gerald Moni, Emily Davis and Philip Rykwalder checked it out then it doesn't need any further checking. Gerald is the KING of Tennessee caves and Philip and Emily are well beyond qualified! Philip even posted pics and his own video of it all a few weeks ago on his facebook page.

The Parkers say they felt better prepared to deal with “closing down their man cave after speaking with the cave diving team.”

I've had folks come up to me on Monday morning and go "so did you go cave diving this weekend?"
Me - "no"

"But I thought you said you were going this weekend..."

I'm sure you didn't offend anyone, Brian. I just figured you might not have read the 1st article thoroughly is all. That is why I pointed out the expertise of those checking out the cave. I think I've known Gerald almost 40 years. :)

I will remember the names. I hope to meet them at a future cave event or in a cave.

Brian - you should come up to Sewanee Mountain Cave Fest labor day weekend. You can meet quite a few of TAG's BNC's there... (BNC = big name caver  )

On a more serious note, Cave Fest is a really fun event and you will have a great time. We have led cave trips lined up, a bat float, a band, a movie & popcorn, a pot luck dinner and an awesome auction! T-shirts are back this year by popular demand and below is the image that will be on the back of them.

Brian,
I've met a lot of those BNC's from TAG over the years. Nicest people you'll ever meet. Can't wait to see them all again at the NSS 2014 TAG convention in Huntsville. :bananabat:

One thing I feel that makes them BNC's.......is because..... they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. :kewl: :cave softly:
