Cave-in registration

Postby caver53396 » Sep 27, 2005 11:24 am

Does anybody know if they are locking the gates again this year after registration closes on Thursday or will they let us leave an ID and pick up our pre-reg pack in the morning? We are trying to avoid having to sleep in the drive until Friday morning by leaving home earlier if we must. The sleep was minimal Thursday with all the cars driving past (then back) as they found that they could not get in after midnight This (along with the trip to Incredible) really seem to drag down the energy level for the weekend.

Mark - I'm not directly involved with registration but have been involved in the work weekends. The following link has contact information for the Cave-In Chair. I'm not sure if she (or the registration chair person)frequent this DB but you can contact the Cave-In Chair from this link

Registratioin Shifts

Postby CaverScott » Sep 27, 2005 2:57 pm

Mark, Alas I believe they are shutting it down at midnight. I am NOT positive but noted that the registration shifts ended at midnight on Thursday when I signed up for my Thursday night shift. :(

They were passing around the sign up lists Saturday night of this past work weekend.

Yes, but are they shutting the gate like they did last year. That really sucked to show and find out we could not even get in to set up camp then register int he morning. Although, I did sleep quite well in the camp chair with the cooler ottoman, there just was not much sleep to be had with all the traffic.

Just trying to avoid that this year.

Stay Tuned for the Final Word

Postby CaverScott » Sep 29, 2005 7:31 am

It is my understanding they are following the same policies as last year. I have posted a message to the TAG On The Mountain Discussion Group in hopes of getting a definative answer. Once I have it, I will repost it here.

Thanks. This really just affects the time we make sure we leave Indy.

For those who care...

OK, I talked to Jane Morgan this morning and it looks as if the gate will be shut and no unregistered people will be let in after registration closes.

But she did note the field accomodations outside the gate will be improved this year including a crapper (I don't plan on finding out though). :D

Registration at the TAG Fall Cave-In
By: Andy Zellner (Marietta, Georgia)

Hi folks,

First of all, just as a clear reminder, here's the hours that
Registration will be open at the TAG Fall Cave-In this weekend (all
times are Eastern Daylight Time):

Thursday Noon-Midnight, Friday 8am-2am, Saturday 8am-4pm.

This means that no newcomers will be allowed into the site after 4pm
on Saturday! That is 4-o'clock in the afternoon! 4:00pm EDT!

(If you have already pre-registered, you WILL be able to get in,
whatever time you show up. Please pass the word to all your caving
friends. Especially Sleazeweasel. :)

Finally, we'll have the Cave Information Desk set up at the usual spot
inside the SCCI booth on Vendors Row. We are looking for a few more
cavers to help lead a trip or two during the event, especially on
Friday and Saturday. If you wouldn't mind helping out, or perhaps just
letting a few more cavers tag along on a trip of your own, please
email me at andyzellner@hotmail.com.

Thanks,

--Andy Z.
