What happens when you get dirt in your eye/contacts? Is it just as tolerable as dirt in the eyes? I imagine it would damage the contact lens.
I think most will underestimate the safety goggles. They are completely necessary, and you know this after being hit in the eye with micro-shavings of rock bits... I am lucky and thankful I haven't sustained any injuries from digging yet. Aside from the usual cuts, bruises and cave-rash. Last dig ate my whole elbow.
