SERA Summer Cave Carnival

Postby CaveSinger » Apr 18, 2006 9:37 am

Just wanted to throw a little more info out there about this year's SERA

The Central Alabama Grotto (CAG) is hosting this year at Buck's Pocket State Park near Scottsboro, AL June 1-4 2006. This year CAG is putting the Carnival back into the Cave Carnival. CAG is going to have a Midway area set up near Vendors row with all kinds of rides and games, like Moonwalk (adult size) an orbitron, ramen noodle wrestling and much MUCH more! CAG is also going to have "the cave-in" movie theater. We will be showing the movie "The Cave" every night during SERA for cavers to laugh and make fun of. This should be a SERA to remember!
For more info you can go to the CAG web site http://www.caves.org/grotto/cag or get in touch with me and I'll try and answer any guestions you might have. I hope to see you there!

Too late to pre-register. Pre-registration ended on April 1. I missed it too. . . hope I get the days off work that I requested so I can arrive early before they sell out of the smaller sized tee-shirts. I hate it when all that is left are the XL's

What is the deadline for sending in registration forms then? From the website it appears if you miss the deadline that you have to register on site.

Thanks,

There's no offical deadline for sending in registrations, but we do need time to proccess them before the event. We'll except registrations until the week before SERA. So, the deadline would be Saturday May 27th. After that you'll have to register at the event with everybody else. But you still have to pay the regular entry fee. There is no discount for registering between now and SERA!

See ya there Scott. I'll be with my buddies Jim and Jack. They're not very good cavers, but know how to have a good time. :whiskey:

Brings up a point. Isn't alchohol prohibited in Alabama State Parks?

We've worked it out with the State. Same deal as everywhere else. No open containers! So bring cups!

Cool,

I was simply wanting to know if the issue had been discussed because I know that during Convention planning last year the fact that Monte Sano State Park didn't allow alchohol played a role in deciding some venues.

Hope I can make it this time.

Maybe we'll get together after a grotto meeting soon and have a beer together. What say?
