Eugene, OR!

Postby sideshow » Dec 2, 2011 3:36 am

Hello everyone. Been lurking around here for awhile, but I thought I'd take the time now to introduce myself, before I most likely go back to lurkin'

Been caving for a couple years now, primarily affiliated with DUG (Detroit Urban, not Dayton Underground), and been surveying with them for a bit now. No NSS membership yet. Maybe I'll get around to it one of these days, when I get more money and more interest.

Was located over on the east coast/midwest, home of plentiful caves and cavers, but now I just relocated over to the other side. Beautiful mountains, great folks, better beer, but less caves and so far less cavers. Found one by the bats on his bumper sticker, but that's it so far. Anyone else from around here?

peace, love, and borehole!
Alex

Hi, Alex,

The NSS lists 3 members in Eugene and 105 total in Oregon so you do have company out there if you can find them.

Once you join the NSS you'll receive a membership manual each year. The manual alternates its listing each year from sorted by last name one year to grouping by state the next. Very useful.

There is also a member search feature on the NSS web site that is updated daily.

 I guess this year the NSS forgot about me and a little over 10,000 others then?

Come to think of it, 2010 was the last data export for the MM. Hmmm..did I know about this? Was there an official announcement?

Yes, I think there was. I think there was some sort of delay and they decided to postpone and save money, and no one complained too much. Wasn't there a thread on Cavechat about it?

Yes, there was. I think they proposed to print every 18 months.
