Try AquaSeal I find it fixes a multitude of sins.

Aquaseal is good stuff, but I'd use shoe goo.

Shoo-Goo is a cheaper, less tough version of AquaSeal. I have personally done the testing when looking patching material on Swaygo Packs. Use the good stuff if you want good results. Also, if you have a split or tear longer than one inch, you should somehow physically bind it. Try stitching with heavy thread or dental floss. Something to hold the tear closed.

:exactly: From experience, I've found Shoo Goo works in a pinch as a temporary repair for caving footwear/equipment. But if you want a more permanent solution, go with something like AquaSeal or Seam Grip.

BTW, AquaSeal and SeamGrip are the same compound, but SeamGrip is runnier—to seep down into the seams.

Great news about the aquaseal. If this silicone stuff doesn't last long, I'll try that. Just hate to part with $$$$ for new stuff when I can fix it myself for cheaper.

In my experience, SeamGrip also cures faster.

Yeah, it is thinned with something I can't remember the name of and it evaporates quickly.

Oh, right. I guess they probably use something else to thin SeamGrip otherwise it would self-cure in the tube.

Now back to your regular program... :off topic:

As Scott mentioned, you need to stitch up the tear in the boots if you want them to last.

I punch holes along the length of either side of the tear with about 1/4 inch between the holes and the tear and about 1/4 inch apart. Then stitch it together with some tough cord. Old shoelaces work well. Then coat the entire thing with seam grip or aqua seal. Do not bother with shoe goo or anything else. Shoe goo works well on leather, but is useless on Joop boots. It will peel right off when cured. Anyway, once the area is covered in seam grip, cut a piece of fabric (corduroy works well) to cover the entire tear. Soak this fabric in seam grip and patch over the tear with it.

I find I can get a few more months out of torn Joop Boots using this method.
