The theme is 'A Simple SERA'.
We want to be green and lower our carbon footprint for this event.
Conservation will be a big part of the theme, especially water
conservation and recycling!!

Come up and join all the local and regional cavers for some of the best
caving in TAG. Go to http://www.caves.org/region/sera and click on the cave
carnival link for the registration form. Pre-registration ends on May
21. Sign up now and save $5 off the gate registration price $25. Where
else can you have a great weekend for just $20?

This will be a great time for us to all get together and enjoy the
company of cavers from around the region.

There will be an "Artists Consortium" booth at SERA. SpeleoArtists can either take a share of the booth, (paying a share of the frontage cost) or put items in on a consignment basis, paying a % of sales commission. For further details, contact me by P.M.

Please help spread the word! A lot of cavers seem to not know this event is happening, or due to the NSS News misprint, have the wrong dates! Please, those of you on this page, make an announcement to your grotto, post on your grotto's forum if there is one. This is the last week to get the $5.00 discount with preregistration! Preregistration must be postmarked May 21, 2011 or before, for discount.

In following the link to the SERA webpage I find this

The SERA Cave Carnival is the annual caving event of SERA. It is hosted by a grotto or cave survey on a rotating basis. The event is usually held over a weekend in May or June. . . . .The event provides revenue for the hosting grotto or cave survey for their activities. It also provides the sole revenue for SERA. The carnival currently is taxed at $1.50 per person which goes to SERA and the SKTF for its operations and awards.

 I was wondering . . . this year since no grotto is hosting will all the money (above the expenses of putting on the event) go to the SERA coffers?

We will have another work weekend May 21st and 22nd - this coming weekend. Still lots of clearing to do! Also we will be making signs. If you are artistic, or just want to help, we need you. Hot tub and sauna are up and running!

Things are really shaping up. This should be a great event! 12 vendors have registered: B&C Wunderwear, Cookies and Gear, Crystal Creations , Ethel's Beads & Fossils, Inner Mountain Outfitters, Maxwell Mountain Trading Post, NSS Bookstore , One Life Outfitters, On Rope 1, Speleobooks, SCCI, UnderGroundEarth Photography.
There will also be an Artist’s Consortium booth, and Cumberland Caverns will be doing the Munchie stand.
There will be an open mike and a drum circle Friday Night. Albert Ogden from the Terminal Siphons will be bringing his “local” band for great music Saturday night.
There will be a rope climbing contest, Hot tub and Sauna, and of course door prizes.
All this on top of beautiful Monteagle Mountain. The Franklin State Forest is adjacent to the property. There are great hiking trails in the forest, but be advised that the caves on TN state land are closed. Not to worry - there are plenty of open caves in TAG. :woohoo:

Several led cave trips are scheduled:
Friday:
Signal Light Pit 10am (vertical)

Saturday:
Crownover Saltpeter 9am (horizontal)
Mirror Image Well 10am (vertical)
Lynch Pit 10am (vertical)
Cedar Ridge Crystal 10am (horizontal)
Bible Springs, Kid Friendly Trip 10:30am (horizontal)

So come and join the fun!

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Also Kelly and I worked out me having a tiny spot on a table in her Underground Earth tent because I like making wire jewelry and made a few designs http://www.etsy.com/shop/Sunguramy so I'll have them there :) I also am making some not on a chain or anything, just the pendant part, so you can put it on a keychain or zipperpull or do whatever you want.

Sungura- there will be an artist consortium booth. you can put your stuff in it on consignment, you would only have to pay 20% commission on what you sell (to help pay for the booth space).

Haha if I had to pay 20% commission I wouldn't make up materials fees on the products. Kelly and I worked it out fine :) 20% just seems really high. At that people only need to sell $150 to make the $30 booth fee. Well plus, this way I get to hang out with Kelly all day :D

DIRECTIONS TO THE SERA EVENT:

To get to the campground from the east, go west on I24, exit 143, Martin Springs. Go left at the top of the ramp over the highway then left again onto Co Rd 2. Go 2 miles and turn right onto Stagecoach Rd. There is no street sign, but there is a realtor sign for bluff lots at Fish Trap. Go 4.5 miles to the top of the mountain. Stay right on Stagecoach at the top. DO NOT turn down Jackson Point Rd. Go 1 more mile and turn left onto old Sewanee Rd. The street name is painted on a rock at the street corner. It is the first paved road on the right after you pass Jackson Point. Go 0.9 miles and turn right onto Wildheart Lane. Go to the end of the road then turn right and right again into the campground.

To get to the campground from the west, go east on I24, exit 134, Monteagle. Turn south toward Sewanee. Go 4 miles and turn left onto RT 156 at the yellow flashing light. Follow 156 (zig zag around the Sewanee Airport) for 7 miles. Turn left onto Snakepond Road. There is no sign here, but there is a large horse farm on the left. If you get to the Franklin State Forest, you went 1/4 mile too far. Go 3/4 mile on Snakepond and turn right onto Stagecoach Road. Go 1.25 miles and turn right onto Old Sewanee Rd. Go 0.9 miles and turn right onto Wildheart Lane. Go to the end of the road then turn right and right again into the campground.

If you get lost, feel free to call Maureen at 423-605-5569.

...sounds like it's close to Pup's place? I remember there was a Maureen who stopped by one night. Trying to picture where it is...I'm better with landmarks than road signs haha and I swear there are no road signs around there xD

Well I am quite sure I could make it to Pup's so that's good. If I get lost I'll be in the right area!

Also I have Verizon now so I should actually get some service up there...and so I can just use my gps on my phone if i really need to :)

LESS THAN A WEEK NOW :bananabat: :bananabat:

Also...holyshit I just looked...it's an 11 hr drive. I totally didn't remember that. I thought it was like 8-9 hrs. Oops. Oh well that just means that I get to leave earlier than I thought. I'll probably be getting there around 5pm, is that okay?
