I found the original entertaining and liked that they played it up withe the free schwag at our '06 Convention in Bellingham.

If the family is away (usually in Minnesota at Jodi's folks)when I'm prepping for a caving trip, then I'll play it on the big screen TV while I lay all my caving gear out in the spacious living room (rather than the somewhat limited basement space). Definitely too intense for my 4 and 7 year olds to watch for quite some years yet.

I think Chuck Norris should be in more movies.

He could just beat the crap out of all the characters and then the rest of us could just get on with our lives.

:boxing:

I would particularly like to see him make a guest appearance on Lost.

I bought and watched this film last night for the first time. Breaking down because it was in the $5.00 Walmart bin and figured hey... worth a shot and I was bored.
Actually thought it was pretty good for a horror flick. Of course like many on this forum I had a few problems with the caving techniques used (FLARES??) here and there... it wasn't bad... better than "The Cave" I'll say that.

The creatures were thought out well enough... makes sense that the humans evolved to cave life by going blind and folds of skin growing over the eyes and etc. Dunno about pointy ears and bat like teeth but it IS hollywood. I'd thought they'd have a bit more hair rather going hairless due to the cold of the cave.

Overall nicely done.
Watching the making of the film is fun too, shows possibilities for a more serious non monster fictional cave film.

I loved the first movie. Saw it twice in the theater and found it to be very creepy and intense. That one scene with the camcorder still made me jump, even on the second viewing.

I'll probably check out The Descent II, but I doubt it wll be as good as the first movie.

I loved the first one too! I've watched it probably 10 or more times. At least they did wear helmets! unlike "the cave" the second will probably be bad like most sequels....they should just leave it alone I think.

Say what you want about the caving in this movie (and sequel). Am I the only person who is just grateful for a mainstream movie about caves that isn't "The Cave"? I mean, since when has any movie accurately depicted what it's . . . depicting?
Who will descend into the abyss?

The Descent Part 2 Hits DVD in April From Lionsgate

Finally the sequel to Neil Marshall's modern classic The Descent is coming to the States on DVD courtesy of Lionsgate, and we've got a look at the godawful early artwork.

No special features have been announced as of yet for The Descent Part 2. Look for the film here on April 27th.

Synopsis
Terror mounts as fear cuts deeper in the chilling continuation to the globally successful horror hit THE DESCENT. Traumatized, Sarah Carter (Shauna MacDonald) emerges alone from the cave system where she confronted her darkest dread. With no rational explanation to what happened, the authorities force her back into the subterranean depths to help locate her five missing girlfriends. But as the rescue party enters further uncharted domains, flashbacks start haunting Sarah as shocking memories of the past hit home. For they are venturing into the habitat of a new tribe of Crawlers, even more viciously feral than Sarah faced before.

I actually did find this movie squeal on Frostwire but it was in french.....
